How To Replace The Control Assembly In A ThinAir

Follow these easy step-by-step instructions on how to carefully and successfully replace the control assembly in your ThinAir Hand Dryer.

Step One: Disconnect the power supply to the dryer, usually located in your electrical panel box, and remove your cover.

Step Two: Confirm power is disconnected by checking if there is any voltage at the terminal block.

Step Three: Locate and loosen the two screws that hold the dryer housing to the base plate. Do not remove. This will make removing the control easier.

Step Four: Locate control under the dryer nozzle and remove the two small machine screws from the control bracket. Save the screws.

Step Five: Gently unplug the sensor wire.

Step Six: Locate and disconnect the sensor tub where it meets the control.

Step Seven: Grasp the control from the left side and lift and slightly towards you while sliding toward the left to disengage the control from under the mounting tabs on the right side of the control.

Step Eight: Maneuver the control so that it can be pulled out from under the nozzle.

Step Nine: Locate the main connector and unplug by pressing down on the locking tab while pulling out the connector.

Step Ten: Locate and remove the two sensor brackets screws.

Step Eleven: Remove the bracket from the old sensor.

Step Twelve: Install a new sensor onto the bracket using the same screws.

Step Thirteen: Install screws into the sensor first, then into the bracket.

Step Fourteen: Reinstall sensor with bracket under nozzle using the two screws previously removed.

Step Fifteen: Plug the main connector into the control until it clicks into place.

Step Sixteen: Reverse instructions to install the replacement control, making sure that the control bracket is inserted under both tabs of the base plate.

Step Seventeen: Fasten the control bracket with the two small machine screws previously removed.

Important: Before reconnecting the sensor tub, make sure the sensor wires are routed behind the tub. Make sure the sensor tube is secure at both ends.

Step Eighteen: Tighten the two screws previously loosened, which hold the dryer housing into the base plate. Reinstall the cover and tamper-proof bolt and restore power to the dryer.

Step Nineteen: Test the dryer for proper operation by operating for more than 10 seconds.
