the art of hand drying

Excel Dryer has teamed up with Artists For Humanity (AFH) to turn Hand Dryers into works of art.

Artists For Humanity

Practical And Beautiful

Custom XLERATORs do much more than beautify the restrooms. They also help AFH’s state-of-the-art EpiCenter increase hygiene and efficiency. The XLERATOR offers a 95% cost savings over paper towels, eliminating their labor, maintenance, and waste while creating a more hygienic restroom environment.

“There’s less mess in the bathrooms. Paper towels aren’t flowing all over the place. We don’t have to stock paper towels anymore,” says Jason Talbot. “As artists, we’re painting. We get our hands dirty. So this is an active part of our day.”

“We have HEPA filters in all the dryers, which is a great feature,” Rich Frank adds. “It gives people a sense of safety and comfort.”

Excel Dryer’s Electrostatic HEPA Filtration System is proven to remove 99.999% of viruses from the airstream1. In addition to virus filtration, XLERATOR with HEPA eliminate the multiple unnecessary touch points associated with paper towels—as well as the risk of bacteria on used paper towel waste.

IT MAKES A STATEMENT. IT BEAUTIFIES THE SPACE. IT’S UNEXPECTED TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL WORK OF ART IN FRONT OF YOU WHEN YOU’RE DRYING YOUR HANDS.

All Access

An eye-catching addition to some of the hand dryers is Excel Dryer’s XChanger Combo Kit, which is equipped with an ADA-compliant recess kit. The recess kits promote maximum restroom accessibility and provide a simple retrofit solution for recessed paper towel dispensers and trash bins. “We want to be welcoming to everybody and make the user experience in the bathroom easy. So having these kits—and adding the custom art—it’s probably the best bathroom experience in Boston,” says Rich Frank.

Looking To The Future

Excel Dryer is very proud of the collaboration—and honored to support and showcase the work of these talented young artists.

“These are the next wave of community leaders, civic leaders, designers, creators,” says Rich Frank. “When they see their art in these spaces, it’s so exciting to say, ‘Oh, I made that.’ And the feeling for a fifteen-year-old to have their work seen and valued by many people is uplifting and sets our young people on a great trajectory for successful futures.”

“It was an awesome partnership,” says Jason Talbot.

The First LEED Platinum-Certified Building In Boston

A major step in AFH’s expansion came in 2004 with the completion of the Artists For Humanity EpiCenter, a 23,500-square-foot studio, gallery, office, and event space. Running on 100% renewable energy, the EpiCenter was the first building in Boston to be awarded with a LEED Platinum certification from the USGBC.

When Excel Dryer learned about the amazing work AFH was doing, they saw a unique opportunity to collaborate with their teen artists to create custom covers for the XLERATOR Hand Dryers and XChanger® Combo Kits in the facility’s restrooms.
