Paper Trail
American School & University, September 2007

Denis Gagnon, owner of Excel Dryer, Inc. and industry expert, discusses the benefits of hand dryers in school restrooms.

Because hand dryers leave no waste behind, they are more hygienic than paper towels. With dryers in place, school and university facility managers can eliminate tons of paper-towel waste every year. Except for a recommended annual cleaning, high-quality hand dryers require little maintenance. Paper towels require one hour of maintenance for each case of towels used. In addition, a paper-towel dispenser can be empty, jammed or otherwise non-functioning; hand dryers are almost always available for use.

Can't Touch This
Today's Facility Manager, April 2006

Denis Gagnon, owner of Excel Dryer, Inc., explains the new options facilities managers have when it comes to restroom design and renovations.

In recent years, hands-free technology has effectively prevented some public rest room users from having to touch many bathroom surfaces at all. And although the initial investment in quality motion detector rest room appliances may be higher, facility managers could stand to save a great deal of money on janitorial and maintenance labor by adopting this technology.

Will Hand Dryers Blow Away Their 'Green' Competition?
Sanitary Maintenance, September 2005

Learn why facility managers are rethinking their stance on hand dryers.

While there are many financial benefits to switching to hand dryers, perhaps the greatest reason for a switch is because of the environmental impact. "My decision to get rid of the paper toweling was one to keep more waste out of the landfills," says Gary Homesley, California State Northridge. "As a native Californian, I [made the switch] to try to be more environmentally sound. It shows a good example for the students and it shows them where their money is going."

Restaurant Daily News, May 2002

In an interview, Denis Gagnon, owner of Excel Dryer, Inc., explains the motivation behind his company's development of an ultra-fast electric hand dryer.

"As a manufacturer of hand dryers, we conducted some research to find out why people don't like hand dryers. The answer was simple...hand dryers take too long to dry your hands, which is why hand dryers are installed in less than 10% of public restrooms."
