Stefanik Memorial School in Massachusetts and Norwin Learning Center in Pennsylvania ‘Throw in the Towel’ and install high-speed, energy-efficient XLERATOR® Hand Dryers

EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Excel Dryer, Inc., manufacturer of the original, patented, high-speed, energy-efficient XLERATOR Hand Dryer, is welcoming state Sen. Eric Lesser (D-Longmeadow), co-chair of the state Joint Legislative Manufacturing Caucus, to tour the East Longmeadow manufacturing facility Tuesday, Oct. 6. The tour of the Excel Dryer facility coincides with state leaders’ kickoff of “Manufacturing Month” last week, which is intended to highlight advancements in manufacturing and recognize local world-class manufacturing companies like Excel Dryer. Lawmakers have scheduled a series of events throughout the state each week of October. This week, legislators are focusing on manufacturing in western Massachusetts, including the Pioneer Valley and the Berkshires.

An increase in high-tech manufacturing was one of Lesser’s top priorities during his senate campaign in 2014. Earlier this year, he was chosen to lead the Joint Legislative Manufacturing Caucus, a group of legislators who work to create opportunities for manufacturing in Massachusetts.

“There is no better place for state officials to mark Manufacturing Month than visiting one of our regions most well-respected and well-known companies, Excel Dryer,” said Lesser. “We know the path to middle class prosperity includes more jobs in manufacturing, and Excel Dryer understands that too. That’s why our visit is so important, both as a way to showcase our local employers, and as a way for policymakers to learn more about the needs of this vital industry.”

Last year, over 3,800 volunteer projects took place in communities around the world for the third annual Green Apple Day of Service, generating school improvement projects in all 50 states and in 43 countries with the help of 36,000 volunteers.

Excel Dryer, based in East Longmeadow, has been manufacturing the finest American made hand dryers for over 50 years, and revolutionized the industry by inventing the patented XLERATOR Hand Dryer technology – right in the heart of the Pioneer Valley. The XLERATOR is the only hand dryer to be Made in USA® Certified, following an extensive supply chain audit that confirmed Excel Dryer and their suppliers passed detailed authentication by CERTIFIED, Inc., the only independent, third-party certification source for Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) in the world.

“We welcome Sen. Lesser to tour our headquarters, where we manufacture, test and package our products by hand,” said Excel Dryer President, Denis Gagnon. “Our longevity – and the fact that many of our employees have been with us for several decades – is proof that the manufacturing industry is alive and well in western Massachusetts. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our success with our legislators.”

Nearly 10 percent of all Massachusetts residents work in the manufacturing industry, according to legislators. Excel Dryer employs nearly 50 people at their East Longmeadow headquarters.
